Indian Religions

Indian Religions is an expansive anthology of writings by representatives of all the major traditions of India: Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, Sufi Islam, and Sikhism, as well as by modern spiritual figures who do not fit easily under these rubrics. Much used as a textbook in American and European universities, it has also found favor with readers interested in personal development in the light of the great spiritual traditions of South Asia. The texts chosen are experiential rather than dogmatic, and the introduction provides a theoretical framework for an understanding of the idea of spiritual experience within the Indian tradition and outside it.
